Nutmeg's Obituary

Not much is known before the adoption of Nutmeg the  hamster, but Brooklyn became the proud mommy of her on Brooklyn's birthday 8-8-10. Everyone loved her, and she was even well known by the neighbors because of her pleasant disposition, and beauty. She lived a very short life here with our family, but we know she is in a good place. She left us unexpectedly because before she died she was in the middle of running around, and appeared to be normal.
We will have a burial tomorrow around 4:00 pm with a short viewing right before.
She is survived by her momma, Brooklyn, and the rest of the Cochran family :(.
Good-Bye, Nutmeg! We miss you!

Halloween Weekend

Ivin's City usually does a Trunk Or Treat every year, but this year they decided to just pass out candy to the little kids for an hour on Friday. I thought that it was at 6 pm.......I think I might have been wrong.
Right by the City offices is a city park so we thought that was where we were supposed to go. Games were set up, and everyone was dressed up so we went on over. At one of the games a lady asked us what ward we were in, and I thought it was odd that a city employee wanted to know our ward....... I told her the first ward, and she said, "Oh, ya that's what ward this is." Ummmm come to find out we totally walked in on another wards Halloween party. We were so embarrassed, and uncomfortable, but they insisted that we stay.
Then the next thing I know the kids are getting horse back rides! Brooklyn's Bee costume was at home getting washed so she looks like a Bahhh Humbugger!

London, and Hailey got a turn too! Jocelyn's picture got deleted on accident :( :( :(!

Rah-Rah-Rah Give me an I-N-T-R-U-D-E!

Here is London making herself at home playing the cupcake walk.

After the horseback rides and cupcake walk we eventually worked our way over to the swings, and were able to sneak out of the WARD PARTY! The kids had a great time though!

So this picture is from Saturday right before we set out to go eat chili with our ward, and go Trunk or Treat at the church. We  had a lot of fun!

We are on our way! Brooklyn and London went with Jon, and we sure did miss them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a picture with Hailey and her best friend, Zelda.

After the Trunk or Treat we went trick or treating to some houses, and we had a good time. Matt met us at the church and was able to go trick or treating to the houses.

My Wonderful Family

 Brooklyn:
She slipped on some water this morning, and during the fall knocked a full gallon of milk off of the counter. It broke open and we had a MILK LAKE in the kitchen!
She is learning to play the violin and we went to her Halloween Concert. She is also in Set Design, and she her class designed the background decorations.

Oh, look they love each other so much that Matt is actually smiling in a picture!

The background is what she has been working on in Set Design over the past two months.

We love each other so much she can't breathe in this picture!

Matt:
He has been doing CrossFit diligently, and has lost 15 pounds since he changed his diet 3 weeks ago. He was working out like crazy, with no weight loss! He quit drinking pop, and rock stars, and he has such great  self control when it comes to bad food! The zone diet is amazing!!! Good job, Matt!
Teala:
I went to CrossFit and really liked the workout. I lifted the weight behind me in the picture, did pull-ups, and air squats. My hips are feeling a bit better since I am stretching, icing, and rolling on the foam roller. I took a week off from CrossFit, and I think that helped! I also have a prescription for Aleve that I take two times a day that has helped. I also got some arch supports, and I put them in my other pair of  running shoes, and I think that did the trick.
I can do pull-ups on my own, but I think that I pulled a muscle in my shoulder a few days ago. It hurt me to do anything!!! It's feeling better, and the reason I know is I can finally breathe in all of the way! I did get the stomache flu, and I feel much better now that I'm not nauseated! I hope one day I'll feel good.

I did 150 air squats, some lifts on the bar behind me, and 50 pull-ups

See the two ropes. I was so proud because I've attempted to climb them in the past and couldn't even pull myself up.  After a workout the other day I climbed to the ceiling twice!! See how high the ceiling is? I was scared coming down!

When I got home we rushed to get Hailey to Kindergarten by 10:40 since it's short days all week due to SEP conferences.
When we got home I found a cardboard box that the kids had cut some holes in for the cats to play in. I thought that they were very clever and creative! I think it was Braxton *my sister, Sarah's oldest boy*, and  Brooklyn that made it.

This looked better before Jocelyn demolished it, but I still wanted to post it for sentimental reasons. The cats were so cute playing in it, but my camera was no where to be found when they were!

The kids made a tunnel toy for London's albino hamster, Peaches and Cream aka Snowball
 Jocelyn:
I got on the computer, and Jocelyn came up to me flipping the bird, and innocently asked me, "What does this mean?". No one in the family uses that, and the older kids don't even know what that means........I think...
Then she came up to me and put Matt's slipper on the floor by me. She put Barbie and Ken in it and said, "Mom, my barbies are in the hot tub!"

Hailey:
She is so nice to all of the kids in her class, and she is doing so amazing with her reading!!! She is in Kindergarten, and on 2nd grade level with her Math, and she catches on to concepts really quick!

Her Kitty loves her so much it fell asleep with her....but woke up from the camera flash!
She also thinks she is a model.
London:
She hasn't been on the ball in school, so I have dreaded her SEP conferences with her teachers in the past! This year is so different! She is on task, and even getting excellent grades. Her lowest grade was a B+ in Math.  She has the most amazing voice too! I love to listen to her sing!!!
She had her first concert yesterday, and she did an excellent job. I hope that she'll get up the courage to try out for a solo someday. Some of the girls did sing a solo at the concert. I asked her if she thought they sang good, and she said yes. I told her that she sings that good if not better, and that she needs to sing a solo sometime.

I love my family so much! Life is good!

Hailey Turned 6

Hailey turned 6 yesterday! Happy Birthday my beautiful blue eyed blonde haired girlie!!! I love you!
Jocelyn, London, Hailey, Paul Cochran, and Brooklyn at Hailey's party!

Granny-itis

I had a health assessment done on June 24th because it's required by our health insurance company. I was looking at the results, and comparing them to the results from the other day......since we had to have another one.  The assessment in June showed my weight at 150, and the one the other day showed 137! I didn't realize that I had lost that much weight.

I think I look funny but it's because It's the starting position of the lift I'm about to do!

I'm the one in the brown shirt doing pull-ups!

I was feeling like a million bucks last week when I did the following workout:
-Run 1 mile
-Row 1000 meters
-Run 1 mile

Doesn't sound to hard, but my knee, and hip hate that workout..... at mile one to be exact! My hip has hurt ever since! A couple of weeks ago I was having the same pain so I went to Dr. Brock Kesterson, my chiro,  and the pain totally went away after that. I think I'm going to try to get into see him on Monday.

I just feel crappy about it because I'm only 31. It's very discouraging that my body can't do what I want it to do. I want to be able to do the WOD's *workout of the day* but when my hips are screaming at me to stop I get so annoyed. I know I could run faster, and run farther, and push myself harder, but my body won't let me.

The WOD a couple days ago was 15 rounds of doing sprints. I'm glad I decided not to do that, and I just got on the row machine.

I am really enjoying the crossfit workouts, and it makes me want to cry to think that I might not be able to continue doing the workouts! That's how I have felt today. So wish me luck at the Chiro :).

Jocelyn

Jocelyn, I just want you to know that I love you so much, and think you are amazing! I'm definitely not complaining about you. I just know that one day you will read this, and it will help you understand you own children.

When Jocelyn was 2 she was diagnosed with a form of autism called aspergers. I knew that she needed some extra help, but didn't really care to label her that young.  She had a therapist come work with her at our home, and went to a special preschool that really helped. I was beginning to think that she had progressed so much that we had nothing to really worry about.

Well about a month and a half ago we got a couple of kittens. Jocelyn was hurting them, and couldn't really understand that she was. One day she was carrying one kitten with it's head first down in a quart size baggy. My reaction was a horrid scream, and I was histerical! Same with when she threw the kitten into our large bathtub that was full of water. We've had many episodes where the kittens are lucky to be alive.

With the help of Matt (who remembers feeling like Jocelyn when he was a boy) I realized that when I freaked out it made things a lot worse. Who wouldn't freak out over a kitten in a baggy? I had to explain to her that the kittens breathe just like her, and if we cover their noses they'll die. I had to tell her that we can't breathe in water, and the kittens can't either.

She has been having major anger tantrums, where she tells the whole family one by one that we aren't in her family anymore. She yells at everybody all the time, and she seems so angry lately. She'll say, "Don't look at me!", over and over and over. She wants a reaction. Matt realized that if he turns it into a game then she totally cheers up. He'll say, "Now can I look at you?" and she'll cheer up after a few times.

Also, a good friend of mine had some kids she had experienced the same kind of behavior issues. She taught me that in moments of anger to not get worked up, and to just reach over and tickle Jocelyn. It totally works!

Jocelyn is such a cutie, and I just want her to be happy! This week has been better since we figured out some new tricks!

Entering The Zone

I've complained, and cried about this in past posts! Not this time! I started Crossfit about 6 weeks ago. I stuck with it, and love it now. I feel so much stronger, and more fit. Matt and I were seeing results along with feeling more strength and noticing more definition in our muscles. We just weren't losing any fat, or weight though which was discouraging. Infact, I we gained a few.....people said it was muscle. Mmmm...whatever.

Anyway, we heard people at Crossfit talking about the Zone Diet. I hate Diets, and I don't even like to call it that. I would call it a meal plan. So I looked into it, and it's amazing. It's equal amounts of protein, carbs, and fat.....and NO sugar. They do measurements in blocks, so I'm a 3 block girl. That means I triple their measurements......yay for tripling!

It's a miracle because I have gone 3 days without sugar, and never even craving it! That right there should be broadcasted on the news! It's crazy! We are doing the Zone meal plan 5 days a week.I am going to make some peanut butter cups on one of the days off  of the meal plan though!

I've noticed that I have been eating similar to the plan except I am not a big meat eater. I'm not a vegetarian, I just don't like a lot of meat. I usually eat two peices toast with cheese melted on it with a whole avocado, and less tomato. The difference in my lunch today was that I had to minus one peice of bread, add a bit more tomato than usual, and eat 3 oz. of lunch meat....ewww! Not good when it's that much, but I just chased it down with a glass of water!

1 Slice of bread, 3 oz. of lunch meat, 3 TBS of Avocado, and 3/4 cup of tomatoes.

I'm excited because I can tell that Matt is serious about it too! He hasn't had any of his lame Rock Stars, or pop for 3 days. If any of you know Matt, that is a MIRACLE! He was motivated when he saw some before and after pictures of kid named Kyle. Kyle started Crossfit at the same time as us,  but he did the zone meal plan. Kyles Before/After Pics after just 6 weeks!

I think it's cool because it's large portions so it doesn't feel like you are starving yourself. There are also 2 snacks, and I didn't even need mine yesterday!  It doesn't leave me anytime to crave sugar, and sweets. In the past I would eat sugar cookies for breakfast and lunch. I know, I know it was really bad!

This is 12 pages long, but it tells about the Zone, and explains measurements for each body type, as well as all the foods in the Zone, and some meal plans:
Zone Meal Plans/Foods

I am the most excited for Matt because he has felt so hopeless for a lot of years. Remember if we end up looking better you get to see before and afters :).

Right Now

Right now.....
My house is spotless! I love the feeling of a clean house, and with 4 kids it feels like it's impossible to keep it completely clean.

Right now......
The a/c is turned off because it is so wonderfully cool outside.....which must mean that Fall is in the air! I love everything about Fall! Decorating my doorway, and the house.

I just love the way it feels outside. I also love the colors of fall, and watching the leaves change colors!

When we lived in SLC there was a beautiful tree right behind our apartment. Our friend, Jon Johnson, an awesome photographer took pictures of our family by it.

Right now.........
I'm content! I just ate a delicious Halloween eyeball cupcake that the kids and I made! I love Sundays....only thing missing is Matt! He had to work today :(.

A Night Out With The Whip-It's

Loved The Whip-Its

We went to Las Vegas last weekend while my sister, Sarah watched my girls. Matt and I have a friend Cynthia who lives there so we stayed at her house. It was fun to hang out with her. We decided to go out dancing. We thought she would know some really fun places since she has lived in Las Vegas for a lot of years. She is 51, so I don't know why I was surprised she took us to "The Revolver" which was totally a country western dance club. I decided, ah what the heck and got on out there in the middle of the country westerners and did my own versions of the line dance they were doing.  A little later we all decided to go find somewhere else. The country ho-down just wasn't doing it for me..hahaha! So off we went to another dance club. We drove to another casino, and that's where I came to know "The Whip-It's"!! It was free to get in, and there was a dance floor with the Whip-It's playing all the 80's songs that I loved. I only wish they could have been at 80's night at the Village. Oh well. They were hilarious though! The lead male singer had on black tights that were a little too revealing. The woman singers name ins Ivana Humpalot which I found very funny, hahaha. Cynthia and I danced the night away while Matt was a party pooper for 75% of the time. At times we were the only ones on the dance floor. It was a lot of fun.

About a year ago my friend, Becky threw an 80's party. This post just reminded me of that party. I really did love the 80's.  Just to prove it I posted some pics from the party.

Me with Bryanna Johnson. I made our skirts out of sweaters......and the leg warmers too!

This pic is from a 1980's Party in SLC.  I wish that the Whip-It's could have been at this party!

The Village peeps!

Cents Of Style Here I Come

I'm so excited to help bring Cents Of Style to Southern Utah!!!! So excited I could hardley sleep the other night. I have to admit I am a little disappointed that I can't start off with the product. Usually I would bring the whole boutique to someones house and have a fabulous shoe, jewelry, hat, handbag, and scarve party. For now I'll just be doing magazine and online parties.......but I do see this booming in St. George. I love all of the products so that explains why I am so excited to get started. I'm working with the owner, and it's been really fun!

White Trash Fight

The other day I got so mad at Matt because he wouldn't tell me something that he was going to say. We were about a block away from our house at a stop sign. The kids were at home while Matt and I had just run a few errands.  I jumped out of the car crying and told him I was going to walk home. Well I hid behind a bush at the park, and I see Matt drive by, but I didn't think he could see me. He pulled up by the bush, and said in a hickish voice, "Baby, come on  home darlin' yer children need ya".......I couldn't help, but laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. That's what I love about Matt is he makes me laugh hard all the time, even when I want to stay mad at him. It was so freaking funny that I kept making him say it over and over. Now, I'm not going to post all of our stupid fights......just the white trash one!

BIG BORING UPDATE! WELL PART OF IT IS.

So Crossfit is so much better for me now! I feel good after the workouts, and not all beat up. They let me bring my kids, and there is a play area for them. Hailey and Jocelyn do the warm up workouts with me. It's pretty darn cute! After my workout I let them do pull ups.

When I used to try to run, my IT Band hurt in my knee hurt after a mile which was really annoying. Now my IT Band is hurting me in my hip. I wish I could find a cure, but nothing is helping yet.

We got two kittens that have the most amazing personalities. Brooklyn had a mirror on the floor and the kittens kept playing with their images in the mirror. So cute!!! Their names are Charlie, and Delilah. I hope they survive to adulthood since Jocelyn tries to kill them almost everyday. Today she put one in the barbie jeep and somehow hurt it's foot so it is limping. She picks them up by their tails too. After the barbie jeep incident happened she was grounded from them until she's 4.
Until we got these kittens I thought that extreme pet lovers were so lame. Especially the ones that buy their pets halloween costumes, outfits, and christmas presents. Oh, and the ones that have a Best Friends license plate....you know the one with the dog and the cat. Anyway I guess I love these kittens that much, so those people aren't as lame as I used to think.

Delilah is the striped one on the left, and Charlie is on the right. We think they are both female.
Charlie isn't as cute, but she's my favorite because she purrs all the time and is way friendly.

We still don't have a dryer, which hasn't bothered me much yet......which may sound weird, but it hasn't. We just hang everything, except for the towels, up on hangers, then just put them in the owners closet. I make a once a week trip to the laundromat to dry towels. I was kinda glad that I didn't have a dryer this summer when I got my $250 power bill for 3 months in a row.....YIKES!!!

Just Hailey and Matt were home yesterday morning while I was at work. Matt decided to take Hailey on a morning date to McDonalds. Right before they were about to leave Hailey said, "Uh, Dad doncha think we should hang up the clothes to dry like Mom asked, before we leave? I like it when it's clean."

I took Hailey to run some errands with me tonight, and we decided we were hungry while we were out. I told her not to brag to her sisters that we ate somewhere, and she said, "Oh, is that why you grabbed so many napkins, so they don't see it on our faces?".....she is cracking me up today! She also told me that her hobby is organizing. Seriously, where did that come from....not from me!! I wish I was organized!

I feel like I am a better mom than I have ever been. I know everything that is going on with each of my kids in school, and I haven't felt on top of it before. It's probably because at the kids new school the teachers post every single thing online. I used to yell at London because I was so frustrated with her not being responsible. Now I am teaching her  how to be responsible......starting out with to do lists, and if the tasks aren't marked off and completed she can't hold her hamster or the kittens. Works like  a charm!!!

About 10 months ago my voice started to change. In church I can't sing any of the songs so I just sit there while everybody else does. I've been worried about that because I heard that it could mean there are nodules on the voice box. Well, last night I felt a large lump in my neck, and I didn't think it was a swollen lymph  node because I've had them, and they are usually painful if they are swollen from being sick with something. I was freaking out, and I also to a large cold sore on my lip, which I've never had before. My doctor got me in today and I ended up having a fever. The dr. told me that it was a swollen lymph node, and he gave me an RX for that, and and RX for larynxitis.

Awhile back in a post I wrote about how I had a black filling changed to a white filling on one of my molars. When the dentist did that he noticed that my tooth was actually cracked but he continued to fill it hoping to fill in the crack I guess.  It didn't really bother me much after that until I got a crown put in a few weeks ago right by it.
I just realized that the reason that my lymph nodes are swollen is because that tooth is acting up. My jaw hurts if I push up under my jaw bone under that tooth. The solution: a crown.......gaaaaaah! My insurance is being lame and won't cover it probably. They are $750.

Besides the tooth situation I am loving life. I love the town that we live in, and I love my family!

Sunday

Our family was asked to speak in our new ward today. It was on the blessing of the scriptures. London had never spoken in sacrament before, and she did an amazing job. She had some of the words of scripture power in her talk, and unexpectedly she sang them when it came time to say the words. It was so cute that it brought a little tear to my eye.

Brooklyn is a natural at speaking and she did a good job too.

Jocelyn was so funny today. She was looking in the bathroom mirror and she said, "I don't like this circle on my chin". I told her that it is very pretty and that Heavenly Father gave it too her. She asked me why I didn't have one, but I was quick to show her that I did. It might not be a deep black hole like hers but I do have one!

Her dimply chin never did go away, and I love it so much!!!!!!! So cute!

She asked me why Dad didn't have one. She's so funny! When Matt was speaking in church he said something about a brother in his talk. She came up and with her hand turned my chin toward her face, and said in a serious voice, "Why don't I have a Broda?" Haha.  Poor thing wants a brother, but won't ever have one.

The girls were accepted in Vista Charter School that focuses on performing arts and technology. I'm so excited about it. I'm going to go hand in the paper work tomorrow then Brooklyn and London start on Tuesday. Kindergarten there doesn't start until September 7th. I'll list their classes next time I blog with pics of them in their uniforms.

I went back to crossfit, and the last 2 times I didn't cry and it was a lot easier, and I felt stronger. I'm going back tomorrow morning.

Exciting Things

I got my first paycheck from cleaning Heidi's house.  I'm still surprised that she is paying me the amount that I told her I charge because I would never pay someone that much........even if I was rich!I still love the job because I only have to do it once a week. On Tuesday when I went to clean she hadn't really even been home so it wasn't that bad. She had me decorate her daughters room however I wanted with vinyl flowers and butterflies. I usually spend the first hour just talking to her while she gets ready for the day, or I help her daughter get ready for school if Heidi is running behind. I'll just comb her daughters hair, and get her some breakfast. So easy!

Jocelyn started preschool today. Her teachers name is Sharon. She'll go two times a week from 9 to 11, and the bus will pick her up by our house.

Jocelyn loves the trampoline at her school! I love the one that shows her excitement. I'm horrible at taking pics so it's blurry.

The picture of Jocelyn with her teacher reminded me of something Brooklyn thought, and said when she was 6. We were driving to Blanding, Utah with the family to go see my sister Sarah. We had to stop in a town that was on a Native American reservation. There were mainly Native Americans, and we were the minority. Brooklyn who had never been around any was very fascinated ! She would say, "Dad do indians go to school like humans do?".  This may sound rude, but she was an innocent child trying to learn about them. So she asked many questions like that. I thought it was funny, but it was a great time to teach her about different races and stuff. We tease her still to this day that she asked us that question.

I get my teeth trays from the dentist so I can start whitening my teeth before I get veneers to replace my two ugly front teeth. I would hate to have to get a yellow veneer :).
You can see that they've been chipped, and half of the one on the right is fake. I've had it since I was 8.  Especially in pictures it's very yellow.

Cry All You Want But NEVER STOP!

Matt started doing Crossfit at work, and fell in love with it. So we went to the actual gym to check it out. We have been trying it out, and I've been trying to figure out why he loves it so!

This week has been an emotional roller coaster for me! I discovered on Monday that I am a big cry baby when I push myself really hard. I felt very embarassed......who doesn't when they break down into tears in front of people.....especially people that I don't really know?!  It is so intense that I'm dying after the warm up!

I  went to Crossfit Dixie without my crutch, and encourager, Matt. I had reached my limit after I had gone for a 400 meter run, and done my warm up which consisted of:
  • 10 Push ups
  • 40 Sit ups
  • 10 Cobras
  • 10 Pull ups
  • 10 Knees to Elbows
  • 10 Ring dips
The workout of the day were medicine ball squats and ring dips.
So, on my 30th squat with a medicine ball  the trainer told me to do 12 more, then do 12 ring dips....... I'm  not sure what they are called. Then do 9 medicine ball squats, then 9 rings, then 6 medicine ball squats, then 6 rings. During the squats I was breathing like a weazing idiot because I was out of breath, and crying at the same time. I felt like such fool! I wiped the tears away and kept going and I made it through the painful workout. I was okay, but I told myself I wasn't coming back, and I MEANT it!!!!

I was walking out to my car when the trainer guy, Kade, chased me out. He asked me if I was coming back tomorrow, and I told him maybe if I can move tomorrow I will. He said, "No we'll see you tomorrow, no excuses!". I told him maybe, but I knew I wouldn't be there. I hate crossfit. Why would anyone want to torchure themselves! My shoulders feel like any second they are going to cramp up into a charlie horse, and they want me to come back? I can barely move, and they put me through hell!!! I bawled for a half an hour on the car ride over to Jocelyn's doctor appointment. I would have cried longer, but I had to go into the Doctors office with Jocelyn. I was sobbing, and Jocelyn and Hailey were like what's wrong mom???? That's right! I take the chillins with me because there is a play area for them.

Anyway I think I am going to go back and give it a little more time. I just don't want to have a break down in front of everyone. Maybe pray for me to be normal :). People never know what to do when someone cries.

This may be boring, but I researched online to see if I was experiencing something that others had. It made me feel better when I read this:

"Sometimes exercise may release a surprising slew of pent-up emotions, according to fitness instructors and psychotherapists who have seen or heard about clients crying during yoga, Pilates or other body-mind classes.
"We use our bodies to physically tense up against pain or negative experiences,"

In the field of "body psychotherapy," Ward and other therapists maintain that the body holds on to feelings, even if it seems the mind has dealt with them. "So if a person has the opportunity to relax that area, whatever has been held there can come to the surface," Ward says. "The body wants to complete the emotional experience."

I also found this article that made me feel a lot better. I feel like it gave me some kind of encouragment. I really liked that is says to cry all you want to but never stop.

Maybe I'll look back on this and laugh.........or cry!

What We've Been Up To

I have a sugar cookie obsession still so there is some dough all made up in the fridge. I'll make them later today. I don't think I'll eat as many as I usually do because I've started a new workout that leaves me super super sore, which reminds me with every step I take to eat a little healthier.
The workout is at a new gym called Crossfit Dixie. I've never felt worked out to the point of feeling like I'm going to throw up. I tried to do a pull up with a band on my foot after I had done a ton of squats, but my legs were like jello and I almost kicked the guy that was helping me in the head. I also almost passed out......gotta remember to breathe! It's really awesome because it's like having your own personal trainer! Matt and I are doing it together. We took some before pictures but you'll never see them unless I end up looking better after.
crossfitdixie.com

I made some peach freezer jam yesterday. I had never made any before so I was nervous that it wouldn't turn out. It did though! The kids love it, and that's what matters since it's in their lunches. It tastes so much better than the jam from the store!

I was asked to help our Relief Society out with Christmas in September. I am going to teach people how to make modge podge notebooks. They are so easy and way cheap if you get the notebooks when they are on sale at the first of the school year. I had only made them with spiral notebooks in the past, and tied raffia or ribbon on the spiral which turned out way cute. I looked online and saw that it is easier to buy the composition notebooks then you don't have to worry about the spiral.
I got instructions off of this ladies blog:
http://livelearnlove226.blogspot.com/2010/05/personalized-notebook.html

Here are the ones that I made.

Hailey's first day of school was on Wednesday. She was so excited and nervous at the same time

While Hailey was at school Matt and I took Jocelyn to story time at the Santa Clara Library. It was so fun for her! It was kind of like a little pre-school. Here is a pic of Matt and Jocelyn waiting for the library to open.

While we were waiting I couldn't believe what I was over hearing! A lady about my age was talking to her friend while she waited with her kids to get into the library. She was talking about how pretty whe was and that she always looks good. She also said that her son that's about Hailey's age told her that she doesn't even look like a mom......Oh my it went on and on and on for like 15 minutes. I've just never heard anyone talk about themselves like that before! I don't think it's bad at all to have a good self esteem, but for heavens sakes don't brag to your friend about how cute you are. I felt bad for her friend for having to listen to that. Oh, and just for the record she wasn't all that.

Brooklyn is filling out an application to try to get onto the yearbook staff. She is such an amazing girl. I love her confidence! I don't think I would have had it when I was her age. Matt and I were talking and he thought the same thing about himself. I'm glad she tries to do things. She's going places, and she'll get what she wants out of life. I love that!

London is going to join the choir at her school. She not only has an awesome voice, but she writes bits and peices of some songs that I can't believe that she came up with!

Matt has been able to spend the last 4 days with us which has been nice, but now he's back to work for the weekend.

AND THAT'S WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO!

Made To Be A Maid

When I lived in Kanab, Utah I had a sweet cleaning job with my friend, Eliora McCowan. We cleaned 5 model homes, 2 clubhouses, and a very large office suite. I loved this job because the houses were basically clean, and it was $15.00 an hour. The best part was that it was only 1 day a week for 6 hours. When we moved to Salt Lake City I was the cleaning lady for The University of Utah at the Early Childhood Education Center. I didn't like this one as much, but it helped us get by. It was nice because it was about a block away from our apartment. It was 5 nights a week and 2-3 hour shifts. They pay sucked way bad too.....$8.00 an hour!

I didn't want to have to get a job when we moved to Ivins, but I could quickly see that we needed just a tiny bit more money brought in. I kept telling Matt that I want a job that I can work personally for someone, and I only wanted to work 6 to 12 hours a week.

When I saw that a lady was looking for someone to clean her 3000 sq ft home in Ivins once a week for 6 hours I naturally thought it was meant for me! I kept running into all sorts of problems trying to email her back. I was so persistant thinking it was the job for me that I went to the library and it still didn't work. GENIOUS me! I was emailing my response to the job post to the wrong email address. So I emailed the lady, finally! I told her that I charged $15 an hour.

Her assistant contacted to do a trial run so  the lady could see if she liked the way I cleaned and organized. Sounds kind of silly since it's just a stupid cleaning job. Not to me though! I needed this job, and I was determined to get it! She was going to try 2 other people and then get back to me. I didn't hear anything for a week whether she liked what I had done or what. Well a few days ago I got a phone call and she hired me permanantly! She loved what I had done.  It's pretty easy since it's just her and her 4 year old daughter, and they are hardly ever home.

Sharing Brooklyn

Jon, my ex-husband wanted to bring Brooklyn her hamster cage over for her Birthday today. I was stressing out is because Matt was at work, and I also don't feel comfortable hanging out with him without Matt being there. Everything worked out good though. Jon brought his 19 year old babysitter, Kendra along which I totally appreciated. After he put the cage together he took Brooklyn to the movie. I watched his three daughters (from his last marriage) while they went. When they got back from the movie he didn't stick around, and I was happy about that. I don't hate him or anything. I just don't like hanging out with him. Jon says little put downs, and he thinks he is so much better than everyone else. Everytime I'm around him it makes me appreciate Matt.  I'm so lucky I found such a good husband. A lot of people end up getting married over and over and over again when they get divorced like my parents.  I'm glad that didn't happen to me.

Cookies, Cupcakes and Hamsters....

I have never been good at making cookies! They have always been to crunchy, and we all know that a crunchy cookie is a yucky cookie! I started out with snickerdoodles. They were to die for! Then it was sugar cookies. Now I have  made some chocolate chip cookies that are to die for!

Brooklyn wanted a cupcake cake for her Birthday so we made this today.

She got a hamster named Nutmeg "Meg" for short. She is so cute!
This is the hamsters fancy cage.
